I arranged a screening of my award winning film, Sharks in Deep Trouble, at CITES and was honoured to have the renowned Dr Sylvia Earle, who is the Honorary president of the Shark Research Institute, attend the screening. She was very impressed by the film and later during a camera interview I asked her what she thought of my film:
“Sharks in Deep Trouble is an amazing film, it impressed me, in part because it was an individual taking action, who saw a problem and found a solution to share with personal action what is happening with sharks. You speak for the sharks, creatures who cannot speak for themselves. It took courage to make that happen. The other part of the film that impressed me is the message, that sharks are in trouble, and it shows people who are not informed the real problems facing sharks. I salute both the messenger and the message as a powerful means to doing what it takes to help care for creatures that have no voice of their own.“
I could not ask for better support in my conservation efforts than that of Dr Sylvia Earle, what a wonderful and powerful woman.
Sharks in Deep Trouble has won 7 international film festival awards, the latest is Best of Fest from Beneath the Waves Film Festival.
